In November, we’re in for one of the jazz concerts of the year – the long-awaited return of living piano legend Kenny Barron, a nine-time Grammy nominee and one of the most accomplished and lyrical jazz pianists of our time.
FOR FANS OF: Jazz Festival Ljubljana, Keith Jarrett, Thelonious Monk …
Of the giants of jazz history, Kenny Barron, alongside Herbie Hancock, is undoubtedly one of the greatest living pianists still regularly performing and recording. Whether playing solo, in a trio, quartet, or quintet, he commands admiration as a master of performance and composition. A member of the Jazz Hall of Fame, this legendary musician is renowned for his elegant playing, sensitive melodies, and infectious rhythms.
The nine-time Grammy Award nominee first performed in Slovenia in 1994 as part of a trio on the TV show Izza odra, alongside bassist Ray Drummond (Wynton Marsalis, Freddie Hubbard, Pharoah Sanders) and the iconic drummer Ben Riley (Thelonious Monk, Alice Coltrane, Stan Getz). Four years later, Barron returned to the national television studio, performing in a duet with legendary bassist Charlie Haden (Ornette Coleman, Keith Jarrett, Pat Metheny). Now, after more than twenty-five years, he will once again delight our jazz fans as part of an extensive European tour.
