The mighty magus of noisy bass is back! Kevin Martin, aka The Bug, aka ½ Techno Animal – now coming to Slovenia for the first time to perform live with his special project King Midas Sound. Smoky bass depths, exotic vocals, waves of cathartic noise… King Midas invites you to the depths of his sonic labyrinth, but you will have to find the way out yourselves… if indeed you will be wanting to find it…
King Midas Sound is a trio composed of Kevin plus two vocalists – the Caribbean poetical mystic, Roger Robinson, and Japanese vocalist, Kiki Hitomi. Their first album, Waiting For You, was recorded in 2009 and released on Kode9’s dub step nest Hyperdub, whereas for their remix album Without You the sounds of KMS were processed by Kode 9, Flying Lotus, Cooly G, Mala and some other leading adventurers rambling the depths of the electronic sound.
Being uncompromisingly active, Kevin Martin has been marking the British electronic underground since the late 1980s, first as a member of the industrial band GOD, later within the industrial/ambient/hip-hop project Techno Animal and collaborating with artists like Dälek, Anti-Pop Consortium, Alec Empire, etc. Since 1997 he has mostly been active as The Bug, using this nickname to process a wide range of music styles in the obscure zone between dancehall, dub step, grime, hip hop and noise electronic music.
This year King Midas Sound have released their new single Aroo on Ninja Tune, the legendary British label, which will also be releasing their album in the near future. The material will mostly be presented in Ljubljana where Kevin and Roger will be performing without Kiki, an expectant mother.
