In September, SBO will mark Kino Šiška’s 13th anniversary celebrations with their first major headline concert in their home town!
The polemical children of the transition are coming to Šiška’s Katedrala Hall, having regained significant attention with their first full-length album TRANS during the during the pandemic year 2021. The anniversary festivities in Šiška will be launched by the enfants terribles of Ljubljana’s trap-is-dead scene, with a performatively evolved, full-length gathering with the audience expected. After all, SBO are considered to be stage entertainers of the highest calibre, and the concerts so far have been just a taste of the hype that is expected at their first headline, practically comeback performance at one of the most recognizable concert venues in Ljubljana. We can look forward to an expanded repertoire, aesthetic adventures and in-depth conversations about the current geopolitical situation; all for the well-being of our Venia and its future!
Weirdness and alienation are stigmas that SBO acquired as the avant-garde of Ljubljana’s trap youth from the very beginning. Their uncompromising presence and insensitive expressiveness resonated as bass punk for the internet generation. Entertainers and depressives, agents provocateur with (oc)cult headers, but originally just high-school friends with a mission every Friday. After a series of post-factual ventures, internet hits and appearances on the bizarre Slovenian YouTube trending chart with songs such as “Tipi so pičke”, “Sara Bezovšek”, “Tvrdi L” and “P*** kurac”, they released their long-awaited, first official full-length album TRANS on 14 March 2021. The release of the album is accompanied by a music video for the first single “Ljubljana je Berlin”, where a montage implosion takes place through a tribute to iconic Slovenian music videos, revealing the shadow cabinet as the frontmen of Slovenian pop. The music video received an award from the regional music portal Muzzik TV in the category of Best Indie/Alternative Music Video. Since the release of their last album, SBO have been making plans to take over the government with new music products, which the Kino Šiška audience will be able to taste exclusively on September 15.
We’ll warm up with Masaž, a young four-piece band that unobtrusively but persistently anchors its pleasantly grooving melodies in your mind and on your humming lips. The group, another fast-rising piece of the refreshing new wave of Slovenian pop, gathered concert mileage throughout Slovenia during the summer as part of the Radio Študent Club Marathon tour, and in September they will funk us in Šiška. Listen to Masaž, surrender to the frequencies!
Organisation: Kino Šiška.
