KLOTLJUDI + BALANS

concert

The exciting Belgrade kitsch rebels Klotljudi, who tackle concerts like they were snuff films, will play Šiška for the first time with their new album. They’ll be joined by the post-punk darlings of the Slovenian underground, balans, with new songs.

The contemporary poets and philosophers Klotljudi question everything, from the schizophrenic political realm of the present to the original concerns of human nature. With their anti-rock music machinery, they look to prominent Belgrade artists of the 1980s new wave, as well as to the New York glam and punk scene of the 1970s. Imagine The Fall and Fat White Family contemplating the pagan Slavic perceptions of love and tragedy. Their new album Fašizam Ljubavi, on which they create “an authentically trippy psychedelic feeling” according to Radio Študent, was released in November by the Belgrade label Krava 22.

They’ll be accompanied by local post-punks balans, whom we last listened to in our live stream. One of the most prominent bands from the Slovenian underground right now, both in our region and beyond, has earned the title of INES Talent 2020 with a playful, daring and inquisitive blend of genres, performed for established showcase festivals from England to Spain and in between, and attended the Dvocikel artistic residency at the Layer House in Kranj with the protégés of Krava 22. There, together with some of the members of Klotljudi, their friends and Italian artist Alessandro Di Giampetro, they also formed the band New Balkan Wife, which will release their debut album in February. For this performance, balans will be exclusively styled by renowned fashion designer Jan Brovč, and the band also promises new material from their upcoming album.
