For the first time in her career, Sharon KOVACS, one of the biggest Dutch sensations, is coming to Ljubljana! Her concert will launch the spring run of the Musicology Barcaffe Sessions concerts.
Sharon, better known simply as KOVACS, is a musician and singer-songwriter hiding the voice of a soul legend, drawing in the audience with her uniqueness and sincerity. The broader music public first met her in 2013, when her hit song “My Love” climbed to the top of European music charts, and her 2015 album debut Shades of Blacktook her to the top charts in no fewer than 36 European countries, including her native Netherlands, where she remained in first place for quite some time.
After more than 60 million YouTube views, numerous awards, and shows at all major festivals, it’s clear that KOVACS, who counts Nina Simone, Beth Gibbons (Portishead) and Amy Winehouse among her inspirations, is on the brink of global fame.
She named her second album Cheap Smell after the band she performed with before finding fame, and both reviewers and listeners have described it as one of the most sincere and inspiring future soul albums of the decade. “This album represents my life’s journey, at the end of the day giving me a feeling of satisfaction and the strength to accept myself even in my imperfections.”
