Some facts
3 March: British label Mute released a new album by Laibach called SPECTRE. The release was first followed by a thorough European tour (30 concerts), the second American leg to follow in autumn. In the meantime the band played its first performance in China, in Hong Kong on 22 March, where there was an exhibition on Laibach on view since 17 January, and a seminar on the Slovenian band held at the University of Hong Kong on 21 March. At the end of the spring leg of the tour, on 16 May Laibach are returning after a long time to Ljubljana’s Križanke venue where they first performed at the famed Novi Rock ’82. Since 1981, this will have been their sixth performance in Križanke and the 26th in the Slovenian capital.
In more than three decades, Laibach have lived through and outlived everything – the Macedonian and Isonzo front, World War II, Brezhnev, Kennedy and Tito, the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, Milošević, Kučan, Vidmar and the Nazi punk affair, the Relay of Youth, they outlived JBTZ, the Fall of the Berlin Wall, disintegration of the Eastern bloc and war in Yugoslavia, the euphoria surrounding the Slovenian independence and the accession to the EU, they outlived Yugoslavia and Slovenia, Europe and NSK, they actually outlived themselves…
