LYSISTRATA

+ Body Says No

The forecast for June? A post-hardcore thunderstorm, magnificent in its might, brewed up by French trio Lysistrata, one of the best live bands of the French underground, and a lineup of local veterans in a new music corpus, Body Says No. A guitar assault that will leave you reeling through the summer!

The roaring French post-hardcore outfit Lysistrata shred in the finest tradition of their idols such as At the Drive-In, Refused and Sonic Youth. Unbridled, wild, bursting with youthful energy, the trio lunges at the audience with the building blocks of post-rock, noise and math rock, revelling in the virtuosic chaos that unfurls. The band is deservedly the recipient of feverish descriptions such as “best French live band”, has won a bunch of music awards, and has, just like the above-mentioned idols, made a splash outside of alternative borders – their Rock en Seine festival show was, for example, captured by Hedi Slimane, the famed photographer and creative director of the Dior Homme, Yves Saint Laurent and Celine fashion brands, named by Vogue as the most influential Frenchman in the world in 2018. In Šiška, the band will present their excellent debut The Thread from 2017, and we can also look forward to new material.

The Ljubljana-based Body Says No also fuel themselves in the underground genres of ripping guitars, from noise rock and post-punk to stoner. Despite appearing to have been on the scene only a few months – they released their first EP in December last year –, the lineup features old cats of the Slovenian scene, known from bands such as Karmakoma, Low Peak Charlie, Tovariš Strmoglavljen, Zmajev rep, Akami, Suzi Soprano, MeduzaleM and theLIFT. This broad creative background and the accompanying sonic arsenal have proven to be a fresh wind in these parts, giving rise to curiosity as to which direction it will turn to. The band recently also demonstarted their live chops warming up the Channel Zero club for Boston band Kal Marks.
