In the new project by the Marko Hatlak BAND, we’ll get to know the accordionist in a completely new light. The artist will introduce himself as both accordionist and singer, promising a louder, “rocking” and youthful dancing experience in pop, funk, Latino and rock styles. The new story encompasses fresh original material and a few covers as well. We’ll hear percussion, electric guitars and keyboards in a Hatlak project for the first time. The new album will be released on the day of the concert, preceded by several singles released beforehand. At the concert premiere, the Marko Hatlak BAND will invite attractive musical guests onstage – we can look forward to an evening rich with varied rhythms by one of our best accordionists.
Marko Hatlak explores music with an accordion. He’s won us over with numerous successful and varied projects, collaborating with acclaimed authors from all over – Joss Stone, Magnifico, Tommy Emmanuel, Vlatko Stefanovski, Stefan Milenkovich, Iztok Mlakar … His first love was rock music, followed by idols such as Jamiroquai, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Guns N’ Roses and Metallica. Hatlak discovers music in his own way, unconcerned with genre labels – all that matters to him are the passion and goose bumps when playing live. That’s the key he selects the musical guests and bands he performs with. His love of musical expression is also felt by the audience – tickets for his concerts are always in high demand.
He grew up in Idrija, a small place that knows no shortcuts. When he was only six years old, he began writing his story at the local music school. Sometimes he brought a guitar or drums to accordion lessons. After secondary music and ballet school, he continued his path in Germany, in Weimar and Würzburg, where he concluded his post-graduate studies under famed professor Stefan Hussong. In over 15 years of active touring around Slovenia and abroad, he has built a unique, recognisable style both as a soloist and in collaboration with numerous acclaimed performers, bands and orchestras, including the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Jenaer Philharmonie and the RTV Slovenia Symphonic Orchestra. We’ve also seen him in the bands Terrafolk, Distango, Funtango, Tango Compás in Kapobanda.
In Marko Hatlak’s music, every expression is underlined with passion. He wishes to transfer this experience to his audiences as well, wanting to enchant people with the music. We’re in for an evening of lively rhythms, from Latino, funk and rock to pop. Put on your dancing shoes!
