In October, the Artist per Month exhibition space will be taken over by the Tinta comics festival. Young comics artist and musician Martin Ramoveš will present a retrospective of his work at the crossroads of music and comics so far – his music albums in comic book form, Nesojeni kavboji and Astronomi, drawings for the animated part of a documentary about the band Buldožeri, which indicate the stylistic variety and expressive power of the artist, and new illustrations to link it all together. He will also accompany the opening of the exhibition with a short concert.
Martin Ramoveš (1989) is a comics artist and musician. He graduated in Art Education at the Faculty of Education in Ljubljana, receiving the faculty Prešeren Award for his thesis. His work intertwines comics, poetry and music. He has released one album (Zvok dežele, 2012) and one album in comic book form (Nesojeni kavboji, 2014) with his Martin Ramoveš Band. This spring, he released his first solo album in comic book form, Astronomi¸ via Stripburger and Klopotec. Over the past three years, his work has been featured in exhibitions all over Slovenia, including the A Decade of Comics: Comics in Slovenia 2006-2016 group exhibition in Celje this year. He also created the illustrations for the animated part of the Music is the Art of Time 2, Buldožer – Spit Truth into the Eyes music documentary.
