German music sensation Milky Chance, which conquered the online and real world with its hit song ‘Stolen Dance’, is coming to Slovenia for the first time! Fusing electronic beats and folk melodies with pop sensibilities, the group will treat us to their new album, having developed and enriched their already catchy sound with live instruments. Ahead of Milky Chance, rising Spotify star, Texan multi-instrumentalist and bedroom producer Conner Youngblood will perform.
Milky Chance‘s career reads as a modern fairy-tale. Clemens Rehbein and Phillipp Dausch met in school, played in a jazz quartet together, then, after its disbandment, continued making music together. In 2013 they released their first single as Milky Chance, the viral hit ‘Stolen Dance’, which has so far racked up over 330 million views on YouTube alone!
Despite their immediate success, the duo quickly proved they’re far from a one-hit wonder. Their debut album Sadnecessary won over critics and audiences alike with its intoxicating combination of laidback electronic beats, relaxed guitars and raspy vocals – among other accolades, it was named Best Album at the 2015 European Border Breakers Awards, whose previous recipients include Adele, Damien Rice, Mumford and Sons, and others. Even stars such as Jessica Alba and Miley Cyrus publicly proclaimed themselves as fans.
Following sold-out venues and topped charts all over the world, Milky Chance, having expanded into a quartet, is continuing its success with its second album Blossom, released in March 2017. The band still excels at elegantly capturing good vibes in its songs, and has surpassed critics’ expectations with a great, enjoyable record. The rich, organic sound of the group will ring out live in Slovenia for the first time in February – mark your calendars to make sure you don’t miss one of the most successful European acts in recent years!
Warming us up for Milky Chance will be American youth Conner Youngblood, who’s carving out his niche in the broad genre expanse from bluegrass to folk and hip-hop, with his sophomore EP The Generation of Lift having notched over 4.5 million streams on Spotify in just two years.
