The Power of Touch is a documentary film that reveals the extraordinary strength of the human spirit and perseverance through the life stories of individuals who are faced with a simultaneous impairment of sight and hearing – deafblindness. The film takes us into the intimate world of individuals, where their ability to overcome obstacles and create a full life, despite the challenges of deafblindness, is revealed. The main focus is on portraits of people with deafblindness who share their personal experiences, challenges and achievements, highlighting the strength of perseverance and dedication that guides them through everyday life.
Touch plays a vital role in the lives of people with deafblindness, as it allows them to explore the world and use the language of the deafblind, which is necessary for their connection with the environment. In addition to individuals, the film also presents the community of the deafblind, which was formed more than 18 years ago – The Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN. The Power of Touch appeals to viewers on an emotional level and at the same time encourages them to think about their own limitations. Through the life stories of extraordinary individuals with deafblindness and the deafblind community in general, the film reminds us that the human spirit is capable of transcending its own limits if we allow it to inspire us.
