Kino Šiška & Swarm proudly present the performance of one of the most influential modern multi-genre electronic music duos, Modeselektor! These forerunners of creative techno do not shy away from bass lines or experimental sounds, and their boldness is said to inspire even Radiohead’s frontman Thom York.

We are joining forces with the Keep in Mind Festival and offering a ticket that grants access to a performance by one of the most influential duos in contemporary multi-genre electronic music, Modeselektor, at Kino Šiška and all venues of the Keep in Mind Festival on Friday, June 21, 2024.
Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary started their career as a duo under the moniker Modeselektor in the Berlin clubs of the late 90s. Their innovative sound quickly caught the attention of the reference music platform Resident Advisor, and their albums Hello Mom! (2005) and Happy Birthday! (2007) cemented their status as one of the most influential duo acts in electronic music. They performed at festivals such as Primavera Sound and Sonar, and their music production was incorporated into sound installations at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
It is difficult to box them in to one genre, but their music would perhaps be best described as techno, electro, hip-hop and IDM. It was clear from the start that they mean business, as their debut album In Loving Memory (2002) got them signed to the Bpitch Control label under the auspices of techno icon Ellen Alien. As we’re already listing important names from their discography, we should mention their collaboration with Apparat (who wowed on our stage in 2019) as the supergroup Moderat. In recent years, they released the album Who Else (2019) and compilation Extended (2021), continuing their tradition of exploring new sounds and collaborating with impressive younger musicians such as Catnapp, Flohio and Tommy Cash.
Thom Yorke, who described himself as a huge fan of theirs in many interviews, worked with the duo on the song Shipwreck, and Modeselektor opened for Radiohead as a support act on several occasions. Their pumped-up performances fill concert halls and clubs all around the world with all kinds of music enthusiasts, and we hope that their genre-bending performance at the Katedrala Hall will bring together fans of various offshoots of electronica.
Before the main event of the evening, we will be treated to a modular live set by one of the finest local techno producers Shekuza. Also a member of bands like Moveknowledgement, Warhorse, and Ewok, he has chosen modular synthesizers as his musical playground, which he explores within the collective Clockwork Voltage. He produces sound effects and music for animated and documentary films, but primarily fills club dance floors with his dark and refined techno. Recently, he has contributed music to various compilations, such as Clockwork Voltage Vol. 1, Tehnopolis and Tehnopolis XXII. The label Tehnopolis also released his latest EP Floorcuts last year. Having opened for techno greats, such as Jon Hopkins and Blawan at Kino Šiška, he is more than equipped to switch the evening into next gear.
Based in Vienna, the band Drahthaus produce a unique blend of rave music, intertwining influences from electronic genres, jazz, pop, rock, and hip-hop within their predominantly technoid sound. They regularly perform at European clubs and festivals and compose music for films. Having collaborated with various labels, including Warner, they recently went completely independent and founded their own label, vulkanmusic. As their name, which translates literally to “house of wire” suggests, they also established a co-working studio in Vienna that provides space for diverse musicians and collectives. They are currently gearing up for the release of their third album, which delves deeper into dance music, promising even more energetic raves.
