This summer, we’ll turn the heat way up, as Ljubljana will receive a visit from the one and only Mr. Big!
Mr. Big are giants of American rock. The band was formed in Los Angeles in 1988 by well-known musicians: vocalist Eric Martin, guitarist Paul Gilbert, listed among the best guitarists in the world by numerous guitar mags, bassist Billy Sheehan, who’s worked with David Lee Roth, The Winery Dogs, Talas and Steve Vai, and drummer Pat Torpey, who has also collaborated with Belinda Carlisle, Richie Kotzen, Robert Plant etc. Most of the world knows the band for its hit single “To Be With You”.
The band began with its debut album Mr. Big, which didn’t meet with a significant response outside of Japan, but that changed after a tour with Rush and the release of Lean Into It. The album, released in 1991 by Atlantic Records, contains the hits “To Be With You” and “Just Take My Heart”, which conquered charts all over the world. Mr. Big ruled primarily in Asia (they were truly “big” among the Japanese, also due to their collaboration with Sega!), and their popularity remained high even after Gilbert left the band and was replaced by Richie Kotzen, with whom they recorded two album. But like many such bands, Mr. Big eventually ran out of ideas, started working on other projects and went on hiatus in 2002.
They returned in 2009 and still exist. They’ve released several albums, the most recent of which is last year’s Defying Gravity, which they will promote in Ljubljana
They’ll be accompanied by Fozzy, headed by metal guitarist and wrestler Chris Jericho. The group was established in 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia, and enriched heavy metal with their albums Happenstance, All That Remains, Chasing The Grail etc. Currently they’re promoting last year’s Judas.
This rock spectacle is not to be missed, so hurry up and get your tickets! They’re also available via On-Parole.
