Odilo Globočnik (or Globocnik) was born on 21 April 1904 in Trieste, into a family originally from Tržič in Upper Carniola. As one of the leading figures of Austrian National Socialism he played a key role in the fall of the Austrian government and the Anschluss. Later, he was named the head of the SS and the police in the Lublin district by Himmler, who valued his ruthlessness and loyalty to the cause.
