The Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp, founded in 2006, is a dynamic large-scale musical project that has evolved in size, ranging from six to 14 members and currently numbering 12. Performing across various prestigious European festivals and releasing a number of albums, the group is known for its expansive, joyful approach to live performance.
The orchestra, named as a playful homage to traditional African groups and controversial artist Marcel Duchamp, pushes the boundaries of its musicians, resulting in a powerful, experimental, and organically vibrant sound. Their fifth album, We’re OK. But We’re Lost Anyway, showcases a trance-inducing mix of genres like free jazz, post-punk, and krautrock, characterised by repetitive, wave-like musical patterns. The group’s music, described as transcendental and ritualistic, combines intense lyrics with a diverse range of influences, evoking a ritualistic blend with meticulous precision.
Yegor Zabelov is considered one of the most original accordionists in Eastern Europe, having won over audiences at prestigious festivals such as Eurosonic Noorderslag, Haldern Pop, Europavox and Tallinn Music Week with his experimental mix of accordion, avant-garde, jazz and neoclassical sounds. The musician and composer, who draws comparisons with Colin Stetson and Kimmo Pohjonen, always surprises with his completely unique vision of the accordion, drawing inspiration both from folk tradition and minimalist classics such as Philip Glass and Steve Reich. He’s returning to Šiška following last year’s presentation of his excellent debut album.
