Porto Morto pop futurism and RotorMotor retro dancing to supercharge our New Year’s party! One of the most exciting bands in the region returns to Šiška in style, having received the Croatian Porin award for Best Alternative Album, while the unstoppable nu disco duo RotorMotor will treat us to another exceptional performance, opening the festivities with an exclusive live show and special guests, then later extending the night with a DJ set for the ages. The seven-piece Porto Morto are considered one of the biggest surprises of the regional music scene in recent times. The hard-to-define band, rooted in a mixture of progressive pop, art rock and indie electronica, has also gained recognition with an emphasized visual expression, which is elaborated on in detail in videos and on stage – we still remember the birdhouse on their heads at the MENT 2019 festival.
Porto Morta drew attention to themselves with their self-titled debut in 2016, which was considered one of the best Croatian releases in recent years. In 2019, they expanded their discography with the fantastically received second album Portofon, which, in addition to a high-profile collaboration with Darko Rundek, also brought them three nominations for the esteemed Croatian Porin Music Award. They finally received the Porin for Best Alternative Album for their third album Portopop, with which they defined a new sound, a new stage identity and a new period of their career. They celebrated the release with a resounding performance at a packed Tvornica Kulture in Zagreb, and in December they’ll present the excellent album in Šiška as well.
Motor is a machine that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. Rotor turns motion into heat. RotorMotor is an unstoppable production/party duo, a perpetuum clubile consisting of Nejc Pucko and Luka Lah – Levanael. Since their inception, they have been shaking up Slovenian dance floors with their retro but fresh electronic sound, which, thanks to excellent EP releases for boutique labels, is diligently gathering followers abroad as well. In Šiška, at our traditional pre-New Year’s celebration, they will open the festivities with new material and a live performance, where they will be joined by various eminent guests. And afterwards, following the Porto Morto concert, they will keep us going long into the night with their DJ set.
