Kino Šiška and Infundibulum Association, together with Sound Chambers Series & Delavski dom Trbovlje, present the 6th edition of the Zasavje Noisefest International festival of experimental sound and noise, starting with a pre-festival event at Kino Šiška that will scorch the venue walls and challenge the limits of our hearing with selected guests Puce Mary, Eraldo Bernocchi and UMDHLEBI.
Puce Mary is the solo project of Copenhagen-based experimental musician Frederikke Hoffmeier. Closely affiliated with the punk scene that grew in the Danish capital and spawned labels such as Posh Isolation and bands such as Iceage, Vår and Lust for Youth, Hoffmeier has chosen a somewhat different path.
As a solo project, Puce Mary is constantly evolving. Whereas the early releases on Posh Isolation were minimalist with a dark edge, Hoffmeier has recently showcased her diversity through live performances and collaborations. In her work, she investigates various sound approaches while using sharp synthesizers, hammering percussion, obscured vocals, field recordings, and blistering noise. Puce Mary represents modern, forward-thinking noise/post-industrial music with carefully constructed forms of abrasive sound, blended with eerie ambient presence.
Eraldo Bernocchi is an Italian composer, arranger, producer and guitarist with a solid reputation as an all-around sonic sculptor. Following his career in the late 1970s as a guitarist in independent punk bands, Eraldo co-founded the conceptual audio project Sigillum-S in the mid-1980s, which grew into a highly acclaimed international cult act.
In the 1990s, he established Verba Corrige Productions with his wife Petulia Mattioli, which became the base for a raft of notable audio-visual projects and co-operations. As a relentless sound explorer, Bernocchi has collaborated with numerous artists, including Mick Harris (SIMM, Black Engine), Bill Laswell (Somma, Charged, Ashes etc.), Nils Petter Molvaer, Zu and many others. In 2008, together with his friend Giacomo Bruzzo, he founded RareNoise Records, a London-based label that aims to showcase a wide range of cutting-edge music. The label has since become an important conduit championing several forward-thinking and original artists, as well as releasing a number of Eraldo’s own recordings.
UMDHLEBI is a musical project of one of the main figures of the Slovenian underground, Luka Bevk. The project has anarchistic connotations, which intertwine with the realm of the magical and existential. The sound material on his three cassette releases directly addresses the fate of the planet, human beings and the existence as such. All three feature uncomplicated and elementary instrumental music textures, made up of heavily distorted guitar sounds combined with field recordings.
The concert ticket includes free admission to one day of the ZNFI 2019 festival in Trbovlje (6thor 7thJune).
