PUMA BLUE I SOLD OUT

+ Miles Spilsbury

Puma Blue, a British artist known for his unique blend of soulful, jazz-inflected sounds, will grace Kino Šiška’s stage this May with his evocative and deeply personal music. One of the most promising voices of the younger generation is coming to Slovenia off the back of his seductive, critically-acclaimed new album.

FOR FANS OF: King Krule, James Blake, Radiohead …

At the heart of Puma Blue lies Jacob Allen, a singer-songwriter, producer, and poet whose introspective and emotive style has captivated audiences worldwide. His latest album, Holy Waters, is a poignant exploration of life, death, and rebirth, showcasing his growth as an artist and his ability to traverse the realms of grief and elation with remarkable sincerity.

Puma Blue’s sound is characterised by its hauntingly beautiful melodies, ethereal vocals, and a fusion of jazz, soul, and indie elements. This distinctive sound is further enriched on Holy Waters by a more band-centric approach, diverging from the solo bedroom productions of his earlier works. The album’s production boasts a fuller, richer sound with analogue and experimental studio techniques, drawing inspiration from legends like Jeff Buckley, Björk, Portishead, and Jimi Hendrix. Jacob’s collaborations extend beyond his own projects, having recently contributed to Loyle Carner’s latest album Hugo and co-written with artists like Biig Piig, Mahalia, and Lava La Rue.

Coming from the ranks of Puma Blue, Miles Spilsbury will take us through the dynamic soundscapes of soft-sounding compositions ahead of the main performance of the evening. Last year, the saxophonist, composer and multi-instrumentalist’s debut album Light Manoeuvres was featured on many album of the year lists alongside prominent jazz albums. On this album consisting of mostly instrumental tracks, he collaborated with Carlos Niño, and in the last decade he has also performed with musicians such as Nate Mercereau and Surya Botofasina, who are featured all on André 3000’s unexpected ambient album New Blue Sun.

Puma Blue’s upcoming performance at Kino Šiška is not just a concert; it’s an immersive experience into the soulful depths of a remarkable artist. Join us in May to witness the captivating artistry of Puma Blue in what may very well be one of his last intimate shows before hitting the big time.
