LGBTIQ+, queer and particularly trans comics haven’t yet been specifically addressed and given many opportunities for development and visibility in Slovenia. It’s in our interest to see this change, which is why November’s Spilt Ink will focus on comics with a transgender theme.
We will discuss why trans comics are important in the first place, what we can achieve with them, what they can do for members of the queer community, and how they can be a wonderful tool to help non-transgender people understand the issue.
The talk will be held by Lea Sande, a reporter at Radio Študent, and Nuka Horvat, a graduate of illustration, employed at the trans-specific queer organisation TransAkcija Institute. The event is part of TransFormation, a month-long campaign for raising awareness about transgender issues.
