From July 26 to 28, 2022, Kino Šiška will host the first performance of the Re_humanisation concert series this year. Re_humanisation is a concert series that features new musical, multimedia, music-and-stage works by young Slovenian artists. The series is based on a specific production practice, where an ensemble of established musicians performs the works of unestablished younger authors, whereby the final artistic form is (co)shaped through the process of collaborative work.
The author in residence this time will be guitarist Tobija Hudnik, with the resident ensemble including: Tilen Lebar (saxophone), Urban Megušar (violoncello), Petra Vidmar (percussion), Urška Rihtaršič (harp), Weronyka Partika (saxophone) and Gašper Livk (contrabass). They will be mentored by multimedia artist Marko Košnik.
The purpose of the cycle is to promote advanced “media” based on music and sound, which as such have specific artistic, theoretical and also broader social potential.
Re_humanisation is a project by the .abeceda Institute and takes place in coproduction with Kino Šiška. The programme of the .abeceda Institute is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.

Tobija Hudnik: Turnings
In the thousand-year cities, which we often call “eternal”, a simple turn can take us through a couple hundred years of human history. But what we see then is not distant from us in an unpleasant “historical” way, but rather oddly familiar. We do not have the feeling of observing something external, foreign, but rather as if we are observing the discovery of ourselves … a thousand years ago. We observe something we know, but did not even know it.
If this turn takes place several times over a short period of time (for example, why walking through a still living ancient city centre), we can feel this recognition instilling a quite literal sense of expanding horizons in us. We begin living through the prism of millennia and no longer through our own eyes.
The aim of the multimedia installation Turnings is to establish a prism, through which the 2000-year development of Middle European culture – thought, art and music – can be observed.
