The original king of Slovenian rap Recycleman (ex-Ali En) returns to Šiška on the 30th anniversary of his landmark album Leva Scena. The legendary album, which is still considered one of the best Slovenian releases of all time, will be played live exclusively at Kino Šiška, alongside beloved hits from other releases.

The unforgettable album Leva Scena was released in 1994 and thoroughly shook up music on the sunny side of the Alps. The funky hip-hop album, superbly produced and boasting elements of jazz, rock and trip hop, defined the 1990s, urbanized the Slovenian language, legitimized the skater tribe and proved that rapping in Slovenian can be cool. Evergreen tracks such as “Sirni Mesni”, “Stremetzsky” and the titular “Leva Scena”, with which Ali En shrewdly skewered the entire music scene at the time, transcend generations, sounding as fresh and sharp as when they were released even three decades later. Leva Scena is a timeless masterpiece whose place on the list of Slovenian albums you must hear before you die is guaranteed.
We already paid tribute to the album 15 years ago in Šiška, just after the opening of our venua, so it’s fitting that we also commemorate the 30th anniversary here. Recycleman, as Ali En is called in his current incarnation, will play the cult release and other hits of his rich career in an exclusive performance with the help of a live band, friends and special guests. Come and see that funk is still alive, hip hop is still mischievous, rap still has a message and generations of fans are still spreading positivity regardless of music trends – because classics are classics.
