The region of the Nuba Mountains and the Blue Nile under the control of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army is cut off from the world. No agency of the United Nations or non-governmental humanitarian organization is officially allowed in the areas where leprosy, a disease that has otherwise been curable since 1977, is still spreading due to war and widespread deprivation.
For five years now, the World Health Organization (WHO) has claimed that it cannot deliver medicines there. These drugs are three types of special antibiotics produced exclusively by Novartis, which must hand over all the pills to the WHO free of charge. But due to the political blockade of the Islamist fanatics in the military government in Khartoum, the WHO does not dare to deliver these medicines to the Nuba Mountains and the Blue Nile.
The European Union, the Vatican and the USA, despite their declared humanism, are not responding to the documentary footage and all the appeals so far, so the co-creators of the film Rotting 2022 are trying to appeal to all of you for help.
All funds collected will be transferred to the Tomo Križnar Foundation and used for the purchase of an all-terrain vehicle for transporting lepers to the Mother of Mercy Hospital in the Nuba Mountains, which is headed by Dr. Tom Catene.
The honorary sponsor of the event is the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor.
The event will be hosted by Liza Marijina.
