Rudy Loewe is a visual artist who uses hisher experiences to tell stories through comics and illustrations, in which heshe primarily focuses on the lives of people of colour. Through comedy and satire, hisher work undermines the dominant systemic structure and opens up difficult discussion about intersectionality. Racism, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability and mental illness are the main theme in Rudy’s artistic practice, exploring family history, the history of people of colour, the Diaspora and trauma through various media and repeating motifs.
“LGBTIQ people are also migrants who work in the sex industry, the disabled, refugees, prisoners, people of colour, natives, femmes, the religious (…), and there’s no need for just one term to describe us all.” – Rudy Loewe
