Fashion is in constant flux, evolving and changing by the minute. The latest fashion hit quickly becomes obsolete, and we are pushed by the fashion industry into an immediate and constant consumption of clothes. As an alternative to this shirting … was created. A sustainable fashion project that favours slow and socially responsible fashion, where clothes travel from user to user and so inspire a network of different values and ways of being. shirting … is a process that creates an opportunity for a different type of community. A community that rethinks and revalues the accepted fashion norms and creates relationships outside of the logic of consumerism.
shirting … has begun in January 2014 with a presentation of the first shirt – shirting 01 – on Reform and it continued with launching eight different shirts under shirting 02. All of them are now in circuit traveling from user to user. The third edition of the project – shirting 03, a part of the programme BIO 50 : NOW – goes a step further. Renowned Slovenian fashion designers were invited to the project. Each will design a new shirt and wear it on the opening event as the first user. He will then pass the shirt on to the next wearer, who will pass it on to the next, and so on…, thus creating the chain of shirting.
The aim of shirting 03 is not solely to present quality Slovenian fashion design to the broader audience, but to put it directly into use by involving individual users that will, with shirting, make it visible and real, while co-creating the process of change.
