Official band statement:
Oï everyone,
Canek is injured recently. We thought he would get better quickly, but things are worse than expected, and he is forced to rest for a month. We are sorry to announce that all our shows are canceled until June 3 (included). Unfortunately, these shows could not be postponed. Please, contact your venue for ticket refunds. We apologize deeply, to you who were planning to come, and to the venues that booked us. Touring has been an integral part of our life since the beginning of the band, and it’s hard for us to have to give up these shows with you. But there will be many more to share together! Thank you very much for your unfailing support, it means a lot. See you all soon!
After an exciting performance at the MENT Ljubljana 2020 festival, SLIFT, the French wizards of psychedelic space cruises, kraut trances and massive riff vibrations are returning to us with a headliner concert!
Heavy riffs, psychedelia and science fiction – the progressive sound of SLIFT takes the listener on a colourful voyage to the edge of kraut and stoner rock. The French trio began their astral adventure in 2017 with the chaotic distortion and hypnotic riffs of the Space Is The Key EP release, and a year later served up their feature-length debut La Planète Inexplorée, based on all-night jam sessions. The release attracted the attention of fans of trippy garage rock all over Europe and, among other things, brought the band to Šiška for the first time to warm up for the legendary Jon Spencer.
The following year, just before the world fell into its own science fiction, the fellas released the double album Ummon, a mighty concoction of acid krautrock and cosmic jazz, featuring heavy, saturated guitars, gigantic bass vibrations, and lightspeed drumming. The release was also celebrated by a performance on the famous KEXP Radio, and the video of the session on YouTube has racked up more than a million views so far – as much as the session of their more well-known Australian counterparts King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. We don’t know where the band that have recently also been announced as one of the Artists in Residence of the famed Roadburn Festival for 2022 will take us when they come around this time, and it doesn’t even matter. As stated by Louder Than War in their approving review: With new worlds to explore, Slift are taking off again.
We’ll warm up with the no less hard-hitting noisy trio, torchbearers for Belgrade’s garage punk Šajzerbiterlemon, who shook the stage together with SLIFT at the 2020 MENT Festival.
In 2019, they published their debut album Iza naših zidova via the Croatian specialist for noisy music Geenger Records. The follow-up is scheduled for release in May 2022, promising a new sound with the same edge.
