At this year’s first edition of Spilt Ink, we’ll take a short trip into the history of sequential art and the beginnings of comic creativity in Slovenia. Ciril Horjak – dr. Horowitz, a comic strip artist and one of the most piercing researchers of the artistic opus of the painter, drawer, graphic artist, caricaturist and illustrator Hinko Smrekar (1883–1942), about whom he is also preparing his doctoral dissertation, will present the latest results of the analysis of Smrekar’s drawings. Meanwhile, art historian Damir Globočnik will place Smrekar’s creativity within a broader historical and cultural context.
