You can login under an assumed name and do not have to turn on your camera in order to watch the concert. Recordings of the concerts and the audience participation will later also be published on Kino Šiška’s YouTube channel.
Oholo! is a large band, a collective, a septet that creates at the intersection of improvised and composed music.
It’s jazz with an exclamation mark, as Mario Batelić wrote in his liner notes: ˝There is something unusual and slightly unsettling about the name of this band (which roughly translates as ‘proud’, ‘arrogant’, perhaps even ‘boastful’), sealed as it is by an exclamation mark that demands your undivided attention. It hints at the unconventional and the audacious. It’s a name that, let’s be honest, makes us think more of a rackety punk band than a group of some of the country’s most prominent representatives of jazz, improvisation and experimental music.˝ Oholo!’s concert is organised together with Zavod Sploh, which will publish their album Mnogobolje in May 2020.
The main music event organised by Zavod Jazz Cerkno has been taking place annually in mid-May since 1996 (between Thursday and Saturday). The festival venue is the “Star plac” square in the centre of Cerkno, covered by a large tent-roof for this special occasion. Three evenings of programme feature various musicians and artists from all over the world, established and unknown ones, all of them united in finding new ways in jazz music and thus widening their horizons.
