The masters of noise, Swans, return to Šiška to unleash one final thunderous performance and shake our Katedrala Hall. Led by shaman supreme Michael Gira, the cult band will present their new albu Birthing – their last record to venture into the expansive, all-consuming soundscapes that have defined their work.
FOR FANS OF: GY!BE, Sunn O))), Lingua Ignota…
The thunderous New York collective Swans has spent nearly half a century shaking listeners and venues with their transcendently loud sound, but it seems this era is drawing to a close. Michael Gira, the ever-evolving group’s leader, announced that Birthing, due out this May via Mute/Young God, will be their final album featuring the signature “big sound” that defined masterpieces like To Be Kind, The Seer, and The Glowing Man. Future releases, he says, will take on a more stripped-down, intimate form.
A tectonic shift is thus on the horizon for one of the most influential acts of their generation. With their uncompromising vision and sound, Swans have left an indelible mark on a wide spectrum of artists, from Nirvana and Tool to Liturgy and Car Seat Headrest, while building an acclaimed discography. Now, as they once again step into a new creative chapter, we’re thrilled to welcome Gira and his ever-changing ensemble back to our stage to test the very foundations of our venue once more.
Joining them as a special guest is Canadian violinist, vocalist, and composer Jessica Moss, also a member of Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra. In her solo work, Moss crafts expansive compositions that traverse sonic dimensions, enchanting listeners with warm, expressive drones. She has appeared at festivals like Supersonic and Le Guess Who?, and shared stages with artists such as Zu, Julia Holter, Big|Brave, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
