In her multidisciplinary projects, the internationally renowned intermedia artist Tanja Vujinović explores the integration of art with new technologies. By intertwining virtual reality, 3D modelling, computer game mechanisms and electronic music, she creates poetic worlds that act as new systems for thinking about the world and exploring potential futures.
Her latest project, AvantGarden, will provide visitors to the two-part event with a unique sensory and immersive experience. The ambient video installation in the evening will be followed by a “night” rave, at which the artist will also present her techno albums. The hybrid installation at Kino Šiška will thus be a continuation of the creation of metaphorical gardens, which are visions of the gardens of the future, in which non-human agents will work in bionic systems and in synergy with the natural environment, people and new technologies.
In 1999, Tanja Vujinović graduated from the painting department of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, and in 2010 she received her doctorate in the field of philosophy and theory of visual culture at the Faculty of Humanities in Koper. As an intermedia artist, she has exhibited regularly in many galleries and museums around the world since 1997, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Strasbourg, the Kunstpalast Museum in Düsseldorf, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, the Kunsthaus Museum in Merano, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Istanbul, the Kapelica Gallery in Ljubljana, the Vasarely Foundation Museum in Aix-en-Provence and the Künstlerhaus in Vienna. Her work has also been featured at festivals, including ISEA2009 in Belfast, Ars Electronica in Linz, Kinetica Art Fair in London, Spor Festival in Aarhus, Zeppelin Festival in Barcelona, FILE – Electronic Language International Festival in Sao Paulo and FILE RIO in Rio de Janeiro. Her works are included in many international collections, such as Sinnlos, Globalscreen, Supermono 1, DIVA Station, e-flux video rental (EVR), Sonoscop Archive, Netnoise, CTheory, Borders of net.art and others.
