The series Tea Party for Contemporary Art is being revived to encourage the discourse and reflection on contemporary visual art – in terms of art criticism and as a dialogue between artists and the public. This time the Tea Party will be held in Kino Šiška for the first time, the guests being the sculptor Rene Rusjan and the actress and theater director Neda Rusjan Bric.
Academy trained sculptor Rene Rusjan became active in late 1980s. Her path led her from the initial creation of modernist sculpture, the emphasis being on actual treatment of matter and form, towards intermedia art creativity. In this sphere, she has mostly been interested in diverse possibilities to communicate with people through new media, such as video, the Internet, photography, sound, as well as usage of written or spoken word. Her creative career spanning 25 years is now on display in Ljubljana City Gallery, which is the most comprehensive and complex overview of the author’s creativity, activity and thinking.
The upcoming Tea Party for Contemporary Art will be hosted by Aleksandra Saška Gruden.
Production Zavod Gulag, co-production Kino Šiška, Alkatraz Gallery.
