Helmed by Teo Collori, a veteran musician who is currently one of the most active authors on the Slovenian jazz scene, Momento Cigano plays an extraordinary medley of gypsy and film music. It is a project where nostalgia blends with new stories, as the lads perform fresh, original songs in a style that takes listeners back to the era of ballrooms, cigars, Charleston and lacquered shoes.
Their first record, Hot Club Piran, was named Album of the Year in 2015 by local media, and was also released in the USA by Gramatik’s label Lowtemp. Flirting with classical, world, and film music, their later releases, including 2023’s Capitano Della Noche, showcased their versatility and breadth, while their infectious energy and feeling for a live crowd established them as one of the most in-demand instrumental groups in Slovenia, with their concerts regularly selling out. We’re in for a wild night when they hit up Šiška in April.
