Mentored by Dr. Dre and part of 50 Cent’s famed G-Unit, The Game took back the throne of hip-hop for the American West Coast at the turn of the millennium with his debut album The Documentary, and crossed mics with all the biggest names in contemporary rap – from Eminem to Kendrick Lamar. Now he’s gearing up for his new album 45 and coming to Slovenia for the first time! We’ll warm up with three-time Slovenian freestyle champion Unknown.
Compton native The Game was discovered by none other than Dr. Dre at the beginning of the century and quickly brought into 50 Cent‘s G-Unit, releasing his highly successful first studio album The Documentary in 2015. The record, which contains the hit singles “How We Do” and two-time Grammy-nominated “Hate It Or Love It”, is regarded as one of the classics of modern hip-hop and the album that revitalised the West Coast rap scene.
Following a beef with 50 Cent and Dr. Dre, The Game signed to the renowned Geffen Records, proving with his second album, Doctor’s Advocate, that he’s an excellent musician even without his former mentors’ help. He maintained his reputation over the following years, as evidenced by both an incredible star-studded line-up of collaborators – Eminem, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Drake, Future, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, J. Cole, Ice Cube, Nas, Jamie Foxx, Tyler, the Creator, Common, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Meek Mill, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa, Pusha T, Timbaland, Faith Evans, Pharrell Williams and on and on – and records such as 2015’s The Documentary 2, which The Root even declared to be the album they wish Kendrick Lamar had released instead of To Pimp a Butterfly.
The Game’s new album 45 is on the way, again featuring some of the hottest rap stars today, such as Kendrick Lamar, Young Thug and Jeremih, and his extensive global tour with a full-fledged live band will mark his first stop in Slovenia ever. Tickets on sale now!
