Slovenian DIY percussion heroes The Stroj are returning to Šiška! Performing thundering compositions from their brand new album, they’ll treat us to another of their spectacular performances, overwhelming the senses with their audiovisual onslaught.
FOR FANS OF: Laibach, Juno Reactor, Borghesia …
The Stroj, an experimental music group from Slovenia, has carved a niche in the avant-garde music scene with their industrial and primal soundscapes. Formed in the late 1990s, they quickly gained attention for their innovative use of unconventional percussive instruments, repurposing scrap metal, machinery, and found objects to create a unique, raw, and mechanical sound. Known for their theatrical and visually captivating performances, they incorporate elements of performance art, with dark, atmospheric aesthetics and rhythmic precision. Their performances have been a highlight at various international festivals, including the BBC Music Live Festival and the Singapore Art Festival.
Over the years, The Stroj has continued to evolve, experimenting with electronic elements and exploring the relationship between man, machine, and music. In August 2024, they premiered a new stage production titled KamenOgenjKostKladivo (StoneFireBoneHammer), with an album of the same name following in October. The group underwent a significant transformation of their stage design, upgraded their instrumentation, incorporated video projections into the performance, and invited a number of guest contributors. The excellent acoustics of the recording space contributed to a dynamic percussive approach and sonically rich compositions with prominent vocals, and we’ll be able to experience them firsthand in Kino Šiška.
