After several sold-out shows in Šiška, the godfathers of alter cabaret and Grammy nominees The Tiger Lillies are coming back to us. On their return in April, they will reach deep into their extensive discography and serve us new surprises in addition to their most famous songs.
The Tiger Lillies, crowned with the Olivier Award, the most prestigious British theatre prize, have repeatedly impressed our packed Katedrala Hall with their twisted sense of humour and anarchic mixture of Berlin-style cabaret, opera and Roma music. The band’s world is dark, varied and filled with both moments of deep sadness and immense beauty. Founded in 1989, the punk-cabaret entertainers have established themselves as one of the most special and provocative bands today, and they skilfully introduce experienced storytelling and circus-like thrills into their music.
As befits their long and prolific career, the cult clowns boast an extensive discography, numbering more than 40 studio albums. On this visit to Ljubljana, they’ll take us from the circus to the cemetery on a detailed overview of their past work. In doing so, their most famous songs will be accompanied by new surprises, all of course delivered with a good measure of characteristic Lillies provocativeness, spiciness, Brechtian theatricality and suggestive hedonism.
