From 4th to 8th October 2023, the Tinta Comics Festival, celebrating ten years of comics gatherings this autumn, will again feature the highlights of contemporary comics creativity!
A colourful range of events for comics lovers of all ages will take place at various venues around Ljubljana, including exhibitions, lectures, talks, workshops, a children’s programme, the traditional comics fair at Kino Šiška, and meeting top Slovenian and foreign guests.
Among others, we will host the notorious French comics artist and animator Winshluss, the famous French underground graphics publishing house Le Dernier Cri, the internationally established Finnish comics collective Kutikuti, the multiple award-winning German authors Mikael Ross and Philip Waecter, the traveling international exhibition WOMCOM (Women Power in Comics), and the international project Remix Comix: Comics for Heritage. In addition to the artist-in-residence programme, exhibitions, and other events at AKC Metelkova City, Remix Comix will hold the conference Comics and Community, dedicated to the multifaceted roles and importance of comics in the wider society. We will hear a keynote lecture by Paul Gravett, the legendary British comics historian and renowned expert on the global comics scene, and get to know the various protagonists and explorers of the contemporary European comics scene.
The festival will conclude with the Zlatirepec Awards for the Best Original and Best Translated Comic Books of the Year, along with a comics concert, where the popular Zagreb musician Miki Solus and comic artist Izar Lunaček will join forces.
