Žiga Sever, a young illustrator, presents a newly published zine at the exhibition, which is part of a series of drawing diaries where he systematically records his everyday life.
These diaries capture everything that reflects his current mood: self-portraits from various angles intertwine with images of his surroundings, notes about his day, food, music, and well-being, as well as numerous portraits of friends—perhaps you might even recognize someone you know.
The mood of the day may vary, but this daily practice allows Sever to freely explore the limitations and possibilities of the format, experiment with colors, and develop his artistic expression. He mentions that these diaries helped him rediscover the joy of drawing, significantly changed his relationship with art, and greatly improved his self-confidence, motivation, and mental health.
Žiga Sever is currently completing his master’s degree in illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. For the past year and a half, he has focused primarily on his drawing diaries, having produced twenty so far. Recently, they were featured in group exhibitions in the ZDSLU gallery in Ljubljana and at the Akademie der Künste der Welt in Cologne. He is also active in tattooing, graphic design, and comics. His short comics have appeared in Stripburger and Literatura, as well as the Komikaze webzine.
