A pair of MENT alumni is coming to Šiška – rising international dream pop talents Tolstoys and the boundless font of creativity that is Slovenian artist Astrid-! Both of them will treat us to brand new material from this year’s releases.
FOR FANS OF: Chromatics, Lola Marsh, Portishead …
Tolstoys is a Berlin-based band with roots in Slovakia and New Zealand. Since winning the Debut of the Year 2017 in Slovakia, they’ve played over 150 live shows, including Eurosonic Noorderslag, BUSH, MENT Ljubljana and big local festivals (Pohoda, Grape, Colours of Ostrava). They’ve toured in Slovakia, Czechia, and Germany, and supported Tom Odell, Lola Marsh and Easy Life. After releasing their second album Mirror Me, they appeared on the biggest billboard in Times Square in New York City. This summer, they are introducing their new album No Limit To Love, combining elated trip-hop with organic psychedelia. Let their colourful show full of groovy magic take you on a journey.
Classically trained Slovenian musician and directress Astrid- is, above, all, distinguished by her limitless creativity. Art runs in her blood, as she is fond of saying, and it’s taken her in all sorts of unexpected directions. She’s competed at the Slovenian Eurovision selection, she regularly performs and co-produces cabaret and musical shows at a well-known show restaurant in Ljubljana, and she directs music videos. More pertinently, she makes enchanting electro pop songs with trip hop influences, sung in Slovenian, English, or Croatian, together with her regular collaborator Tomaž Zupančič of MRFY. After a debut performance as a quartet at this year’s MENT festival, they’re bringing their rich soundscapes and brand-new EP Triptich to Šiška.
