Presenting his excellent new album, Mamut, which has just won and made him reject the major Croatian music prize, porin, Damir Urban and his quartet are coming to Šiška for the very first time, following their huge sold-out gig in Dom Sportova, Zagreb!
In end February, Urban succeeded in selling out the huge Zagreb venue, enthralling the audience with his repertoire comprising all the stages of his career, from Laufer to the recent Mamut, while also including his typical intimate part and short films accompanying certain tracks. At this significant concert, Urban was again playing in full swing, showing to be one of the most prominent ex-Yugoslav musicians and authors for some reason.
For his great Ljubljana gig, Damir Urban will be accompanied by musicians Marco Bradaschia, Sandi Bratonja, Saša Markovski and Luka Toman to play for the first time in Slovenia tracks from his recent album, Mamut. Two singles, Sutra ćemo pričati and Priđi mi bliže, already having won recognition, the album is considered by critics and audiences alike to be at the peak of Urban’s works. Don’t miss out!
In his music, Damir Urban has been blending his mighty vocals with elements of rock, trip hop and modern rhythms. With his energetic performances, the magnetic singer from Rijeka has been winning audiences in Croatia as well as Slovenia, even back when he was a member of Laufer. With that band and in his solo career, he has won a number of music prizes. When Laufer disintegrated in 1996, Damir Urban gathered a group of friends, calling themselves URBAN & 4, and with them set out to make his first solo album Otrovna kiša. In 1998 their album Žena-dijete was released on Croatia Records, again winning the porin prize for best rock album and best alternative album. 2015 seems to be Urban’s year, judging by his huge sold out gig in Zagreb as well as three porin nominations.
