In the beginning of April, Portuguese folk punk poet We Bless This Mess will visit the pleasant springtime setting of our open-air terrace. The young man and his guitar divide their time between his native Porto and the British capital, and his catchy acoustic songs and positive outlook have convinced listeners not only in Europe, but at the famed American festival SXSW as well.
Nelson Graf Reis began his music career as a member of Portuguese hardcore group Blackjackers, then fate intervened when he was showcasing Portuguese songs during a visit to his relatives in Brazil in 2014. His singer-songwriter talent charmed locals to the extent that he was offered the chance to record his EP debut right there, in a Brazilian studio.
Nelson seized the opportunity, adopted the moniker We Bless This Mess, and recorded the joyous EP Love and Thrive, whose title discloses his simple recipe for a happy life. He took his positive message and punk approach to folk and country around Europe, winning over not just fans of Against Me!, The Shins, Mumford & Sons, Frank Turner and Bob Dylan, but the organizers of esteemed festivals such as the German Reeperbahn, the Dutch Eurosonic and the American SXSW as well.
We invite you for a pleasant spring evening on our open-air terrace – we’ll take care of the good music and refreshments, and in case of unfavourable weather, we’ll all find shelter in our lobby, listening to intriguing tales from Portugal, Brazil, Great Britain and everywhere in between from the comfort of our couches.
