Kataman, Kino Šiška and MoTA Museum of Transitory Art present the first performance of William Basinski, a cult American creator of magic, melancholy, fluid sound loops and a unique music traveller, and Luka Prinčič, a Slovenian musician, sound designer and media artist.

WILLIAM BASINSKI (US)

William Basinski is a cult American composer of contemporary electronic music. With his series ‘Disintegration Loops’ affecting the intersection of contemporary classical, electronic and ambiental music, he made a key contribution to contemporary electronic music. Pitchfork included the release among 50 most important albums of 2004, and named its 2012 reissue the reissue of the year. For more than two decades, Basinski has been a key figure in the New York scene where for a series of years he ran the Arcadia club, a venue for contemporary bohemian art scene. By looping dusty magnetic tapes, he has been creating layered intoxicating music of rough nature that confronts echoes of the past and present. His music has already been performed in orchestra environment, and in recent years he has been working intensely with the renowned director Robert Wilson. In this framework he joined forces with Antony Hegarty (of Antony & The Johnsons) to compose music for the performance ‘Life and Death of Marina Abramović’, with whom he has also been collaborating on a regular basis.

Luka Prinčič (SI)

Luka Prinčič (Kamizdat) is a musician, sound designer and media artist. He presents improvised ambiental digital textures, flows of sprawling glitch structures and noisy networks of pulsation and off-rhythms.
