Pina (2011) is a sensitive homage of the German filmmaker Wim Wenders to the unforgettable Pina Bausch (1940 – 2009). It is a homage to contemporary dance, which – as Pina showed us – can address you, touch you or surprise you, leave you completely speechless. Wenders explores the rich opus of the amazing dancer (The Rite of Spring, Café Müller, Kontakthof, Vollmond) and connects her pieces with the interviews of her collaborators. Through their words, we understand Pina Bausch not only as an astonishing choreographer and dancer, but also as an exceptional personality. The closeness is achieved through the 3D technology, so that everyone who missed the chance to see her work live could be addressed from an extreme proximity.
Pina received numerous awards and nominations, among others also Oscar nomination for best documentary.
