YEGOR ZABELOV + COH

koncert

A unique live music collision of two outstanding artists! We had the opportunity to admire the ecstatic accordionist Yegor Zabelov, who can compete with Kimmo Pohjonen when it comes to expressiveness and the avant-garde handling of the accordion, a few years ago at the MENT festival, while experimental electronic producer Ivan Pavlov – CoH has already performed at K4 and at the Sonica festival. This time, CoH will premiere the new album and project Radiant Faults, which was created in dialogue with the new synthesizer Silhouette Eins, while Zabelov will present his full-length debut, NITI.

FOR FANS OF:  Kimmo Pohjonen, Philip Glass, Biosphere …

CoH, who also impressed us with a performance with the members of Shortparis as an introduction to their concert in Šiška in 2019, has steadily blurred the boundaries between music and science during his long career, releasing on famous labels such as Raster-Noton, Mego and Exaton. For the Radiant Faults release, he got his hands on the extremely rare Silhouette Eins synthesizer, a unique instrument that combines the concept of an “optical soundtrack” with a synthesizer interface to the Pure Data visual programming language for creating interactive music. During late-night sessions, CoH created a continuous set of textures, patterns and sublime melodies through which it seems as if Silhouette Eins entered into a dialogue with the artist.

Yegor Zabelov is considered one of the most original accordionists in Eastern Europe, having won over audiences at prestigious festivals such as Eurosonic Noorderslag, Haldern Pop, Europavox and Tallinn Music Week with his experimental mix of accordion, avant-garde, jazz and neoclassical sounds. The musician and composer, who draws comparisons with Colin Stetson and Kimmo Pohjonen, always surprises with his completely unique vision of the accordion, drawing inspiration both from folk tradition and minimalist classics such as Philip Glass and Steve Reich. His debut album, NITI, is a powerful and emotional work that has garnered critical acclaim. We will hear it live in October in Šiška as part of an evening of dual dimensions of sound mysticism.
