Aja Sredanović’s simple, colourful illustrations take us into the whimsical, relaxing world of dinosaurs who spend their free time reading books, doing housework, playing hopscotch, exercising diligently or observing flowers.
In the zine, the artist and long-time dinosaur fan highlights the random chores and adventures of these extinct creatures, to which she attributes an endearing character, while the typology of their biological features and body construction allow her to be playful and experiment with the compositions. The zine addresses the lack of free time and the desire for creativity and diverse activities that too often remain unrealistic due to work.
Aja Sredanović (1989) is an artist who works in the fields of illustration and comics. She uses digital and analog techniques in creating her images. Her drawing is almost childishly simple, always seasoned with humour and playfulness. Most of the time, she brings to life colourful animal characters that define human dilemmas. She is driven by the exploration of her own imagination and the search for an appropriate translation in a combination of colours and shapes. As a graphic designer, she worked with the Koridor platform for a long time, and she designs translated issues of foreign graphic novels for the Stripolis publishing house. With the groups Pijani Zajci and Zlati Osli, which question the medium of comics and celebrate festival guests as part of the Tinta festival, she has participated in exhibitions at the Kresija Gallery and the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova.
