Ana Lucija Šarić (1994) is an artist who works in the fields of graphic design, illustration and photography. Due to her desire to create and her love for everything visual, she left her mathematics studies and enrolled in graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. When she is not designing, she draws, thinks and gives meaning to shapes. In her artistic work, she uses both digital and analog techniques: drawing, artistic graphics, and analog photography. She questions the media in which she creates and explores their dimensions. Regardless of technique, she always seeks harmony between form and colour. She has participated in many group exhibitions and received various awards for her works. In 2020, she had her first solo exhibition Secret Agent at the KAPSULA Gallery.
The author questions the zine medium and the reader’s interaction with what is read. She presents a zine calendar, which is not a zine intended for one-time reading. Instead, the reader inevitably participates in it. It is a zine that tells its own story, but at the same time it is the reader who gives it content. The meaning of the calendar is to be aware of the passage of time and to circle back again and again to the same dates of events, while at the same time it is a network, a structure. The zine calendar is not only the one that conveys and informs the message; it is a free field of memories of each person, a network of subjectively important dates, something tangible, a field for planning, a record of lunar cycles, a guide and a diary. This is not a zine that you read and put back on the shelf, but it constantly communicates with the reader and also contains the reader, so even if it is put away in a drawer, it follows them for a long time, and physically at least until the end of the calendar year.
