ZINE VITRINE I Sara Skenderija: Zomi

exhibition

free entry

The zine is established as a subversive statement where words fail.

Its image appears as a variable, an enigma that lets something visceral through its surface. By changing the observer, the image also correlatively, continuously melts, adapts, evades, connects, etc. The core of the content lies in the enigmatic mechanism of the zine, which  bears witness to a single event through quasi-sequential repetition. In doing so, the zine is not an autonomous remnant of the event, but rather a trace that bears witness to the past and at the same time induces incompleteness, which raises the question of further mobilization.

Sara Skenderija (1998) graduated in 2022 with the thesis Mimetic Perplexity at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, where she is currently pursuing a master’s degree. She works in the fields of painting and installation art. In her work, she is interested in, among other things, the enigma, the logic of sequential order and somatic experience, which she investigates through an experimental approach to media. She has held several solo and group exhibitions so far, including the solo exhibition ZOMI at the Alkatraz Gallery (2024), Zoma X at the Tkalka Gallery (2023), the group exhibition Večno nenapisano pismo at the Center for Contemporary Arts Celje (2023), the solo exhibition Faktotum MXM:06 at DobraVaga (2022) and the group exhibition Layers and Objects at the Knifer Gallery in Osijek (2022).
