27. 9. 2017, 20:00 @ Fuga, Bratislava
The 3 Slovenian acts performing are КУКЛА, Daniel Vezoja and persons from porlock.
КУКЛА
КУКЛА is a self-proclaimed Slavic gangsta geisha pop artist. Singing mostly about weapons and love, КУКЛА is constantly fighting battles within herself and with the outer world. Her pop sound captures the current gender nonconforming youth of the West, while still maintaining a special Slavic introspection and fatalism. There’s a clear stylistic resemblance to Milošević-era Serbian female singers and a nod to R&B goddesses of the Bush era America. On stage, she lets her guard down, enriches her distinctive sound with dazzling visuals, and serves her heart on a plate. Bon appétit! Welcome to the КУКЛА experience.
PERSONS FROM PORLOCK
Four persons with guitars and drums, exploring the trippy universe of psychedelia, echoing 60s flowers and 90s stoners, and chasing today’s impalas with their dreamy vocals, floating guitar solos and dirty riffs. Bands debut “things people don’t like” was chosen as the best Slovenian album of 2016 by Radio Student. And the first single Bad FanFiction from the upcoming second album made it all the way to Seattle. The influential KEXP radio presented it as their Song of the Day. The second single Affordable Amphetamines is raising expectations.
DANIEL VEZOJA
After his band TrainStation broke up, Daniel fully devoted himself to his first love – songwriting. The first time he performed solo in public was at an open mic in Dublin. Feeling motivated by the positive feedback from the audience he kept returning to Dublin to play and learn more. Following a series of lucky coincidences, he came across a renowned Dublin producer and singer-songwriter Gavin Glass with whom he recorded his debut solo album “Where the Light Resides”, released in December. The album was well received by the critics and made it to several Slovenian best album of the year lists. Since the release of his first single Daniel has been mostly focused on performing live. He got to open for Lisa Hannigan, Damien Jurado, Lola Marsh, Dillon and performed at several international festivals. Live he performs with a band.
Thanks to the LALA Slovak Music Export for supporting the event.
